Garage Door Repair in Beaumont, TX
Rusted spring, dead opener, door blown off its track? Send one request and we pass it to one local garage door company.
- Free to use
- One local company, not a list
- No obligation to hire
Referral website, not the contractor. How it works
Garage door repair in Beaumont usually means a broken spring, an opener that won't respond, a door off its track, or a storm-damaged door. To get started, send a request with the form.
SETX Garage Door is a referral website, not a garage door company. We send your request to one independent local garage door company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.
Pricing and scheduling come from that company. Get the price in writing before any work starts.
Door stuck open, or a car trapped inside? Leave the door where it is, don't pull the red emergency release cord, and send a request with the form.
How a request works
- 1Tell us what you need
Send the short form. It takes about a minute. - 2One local company contacts you
We pass your request to one independent garage door company that serves your area. - 3You get its price and decide
The company quotes you directly. Hiring it is up to you.
The form asks for your town, the problem and how soon you need help. It goes to one company, not a list of bidders, so you won't get a string of calls.
Common garage door problems around Beaumont and Port Arthur
Most problems trace back to a few parts: the springs that lift the door, the cables and rollers that guide it, the tracks, the opener, and the panels. Use this table to describe what you see.
| What you notice | Likely cause | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| A bang from the garage, then the door won't lift or feels very heavy | Broken spring | Garage door spring repair |

| Door starts down, then reverses | Wet, dirty or misaligned safety sensors | Garage door opener repair |
| Door hangs crooked, a cable is loose, or rollers have left the track | Off-track door or broken cable | Off-track and cable repair |

Garage door repair prices in Beaumont
National cost guides checked in October 2026 put common jobs in these ranges. They aren't Beaumont quotes, but they show whether a quote is in the normal range.
| Job | Typical national range | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Most repairs | About $155 to $379; about $265 on average | HomeAdvisor |
| Two springs on one door | About $150 to $350 | HomeAdvisor |
| New opener, installed | About $218 to $540 | HomeAdvisor |
| New door, installed | About $754 to $1,707 | HomeAdvisor |
Repair makes sense when one part failed. Replacement starts to make sense when the bottom of the door has rusted through, several panels are damaged, or you need a door with a published wind rating. The garage door repair cost guide covers every part and the repair-or-replace question.
What the Gulf Coast does to garage doors
Southeast Texas wears out garage doors differently from dry inland cities. The trouble here is water, salt and wind.
Rain and humidity. The 1991–2020 normal yearly rainfall at Jack Brooks Regional Airport is 62.13 inches, according to a National Weather Service Lake Charles meteorologist quoted by the Beaumont Enterprise. Damp air keeps steel springs, hinges, rollers and tracks wet longer, so rust has more time to work.
Salt air near the water. The American Galvanizers Association says high humidity combined with chlorides in the air from nearby water makes tropical marine climates almost as corrosive as industrial ones, and that distance from the coast and wind direction both matter. Homes near Sabine Lake and the Gulf, such as parts of Port Arthur, see the most of it. Rust on a spring or a bottom bracket is worth getting looked at before it fails.
Flooding. The National Weather Service says Hurricane Harvey's highest storm-total rain report was 60.58 inches, near Nederland, and that more than 64,000 homes flooded in Jefferson County. PBS NewsHour reported 29 inches of rain in the Beaumont–Port Arthur area in a single day. Floodwater reaches the bottom section, bottom brackets, lower track and opener sensors first.
Hurricane wind. A garage door is a wide, light panel, and the Texas Department of Insurance says garage doors are particularly vulnerable to high winds. Hurricane Ike in 2008 came ashore as a Category 2 storm with a Category 4 surge, a National Weather Service forecaster told the Port Arthur News. Hurricane Laura's 2020 landfall was in Louisiana, but the Weather Service says it still blew down trees, power lines and poles in Jefferson and Orange counties and damaged some homes.
Services you can request
Windstorm rules: Jefferson County vs. Vidor
Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nederland and Port Neches are in Jefferson County, one of the 14 coastal counties in the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association's coverage area. Vidor is in Orange County, which isn't on that list, so TWIA's inspection rules don't apply there.
If you're in Jefferson County and replacing a door, ask your insurance agent or the Texas Department of Insurance (800-248-6032) whether the job needs a windstorm inspection and a certificate of compliance (Form WPI-8) before the door goes in. The wind-rated garage doors guide explains wind ratings, product listings and what to ask an installer.
Broken springs: leave them to a trained technician
The Door & Access Systems Manufacturers Association (DASMA) calls the garage door "typically the largest moving appliance in the home" and says its operation requires a high degree of spring tension. DASMA's homeowner safety tips say spring systems "should be repaired only by trained professionals."
A 1992 New Jersey workplace-death investigation, archived by the CDC, describes an overhead door mechanic who was killed when a torsion spring plate "spun explosively under the tension of the torsion springs" and knocked him off a ladder.
You can safely wipe the safety sensor lenses, replace the remote battery, clear debris from the tracks and check that the manual lock isn't engaged. Leave springs, cables, drums and bottom brackets to a trained technician.
Questions to ask any garage door company
Use these whether you use our referral or find a company yourself:
- What's the total price, in writing? Ask whether a service-call or trip fee is included.
- What parts are you using? For springs, ask for the cycle rating. Near the water, ask about corrosion-resistant hardware.
- Ask about warranty terms on parts and on labor, and get them in writing.
- Can I see proof of liability insurance? The Texas Department of Insurance tells homeowners to make sure a door contractor has insurance or a bond.
- Are you familiar with the Windstorm Inspections Program? TDI lists a contractor who isn't as a warning sign in Jefferson County. TDI also warns about door-to-door contractors after storms, cash-only deals and anyone who wants payment before materials are on site.
- Does a full replacement need a city permit? Beaumont's list of work that doesn't need a permit says anything not on the list does, and its repair exemption excludes work that alters exterior doors. Garage doors aren't named, so ask the company or call Beaumont Building Codes at 409-880-3100.

Common questions
Who does the repair if I send a request here?
An independent local garage door company. SETX Garage Door is a referral website, so we don't send technicians or sell parts. We pass your request to one company that serves the area, and that company sets the price, the schedule and its own terms.
Can I lift my garage door by hand if a spring is broken?
Don't. The springs carry most of the door's weight, so with one broken the full weight is on you and the door can drop. Leave it where it is and don't keep pressing the opener button, which strains the motor and gears.
My door got water in it during a flood. Does it need repair?
Have it checked. Floodwater can reach the bottom section, the bottom brackets, the lower track and the opener's safety sensors, which sit a few inches off the floor. Rust on the bottom brackets matters because they hold the lift cables under spring tension. DASMA notes the bottom brackets are under extreme tension, so leave them to a trained technician.
Does homeowners insurance pay for a garage door damaged in a hurricane?
It depends on your policy and the cause. In Jefferson County, wind coverage may sit on a separate TWIA policy, and Texas policies can carry a percentage deductible that is larger than a door repair. Call your insurance agent before you replace the door, and ask whether the job needs a windstorm inspection.
Do you take requests from Groves, Lumberton or Orange?
The form lists Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nederland, Port Neches and Vidor, plus "Other nearby." Pick that and name your town. The company will tell you whether it can take the job.
